The PG Entrance
Current and former resident doctors at AIIMS (New Delhi) begin their memoir about their journey after graduation.
All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi is a dream destination of most medical aspirants in India. After 5 years of tranquil (well, one realizes that it was tranquil after entering the next phase i.e post-graduation) during MBBS life, you enter a very challenging phase, with very few people out there to guide you and facilitate your success. Farrago of unrealistic and unsuitable expectations can drive you crazy especially if you fail to “achieve” them. Months and may be years of sailing upon this tumultuous sea will finally land you on the shore. And you disembark on to the shore without knowing what lies ahead.
The journey of a doctor during residency is peculiar in many aspects. Cramming vast amount of information, working long hours without rest and managing to be meticulous in work at the same time, and handling personal stress and anxiety can be overwhelming. A well chosen specialty that suits your personality will surely ease all the stress of residency better than a wrongly chosen one. A group of doctors from AIIMS, New Delhi who have finished or are currently pursuing residency in various specialties and super-specialties will recall their journey till now, and share the key aspects needed to succeed in your career. Stay tuned.
Well composed. Waiting for the next part 👏
